Ride 3—Around Town

Staying in town also gives you plenty of options for activities and sites that you will surely find entertaining.

Bellevue Park is a great riverfront stop offering acres of paths, manicured lawns, flowers, family fun and a great spot to sit and watch the freighters pass by.

Hiawatha Highlands and Kinsmen Park is another great site for a short hike to Crystal Falls and other nature trails.

Maybe a stop at Holy Cow Ice Cream Shop is more to your liking but don't discount Moose Tracks Ice cream at Frontier Village - they both serve great ice cream, may a comparison is in order.

Maybe if you would like some quiet time to stop and reflect then a visit to the lighted cross at  St Mary's College is the place to stop.

This SSM landmark has stood since 1960 and claims to be the largest freestanding lighted cross in the western hemisphere.

This ride is a scenic option north of SSM on Hwy 17 with lots of stops and adventures to keep you interested. A couple highlights to enjoy include a stop at Chippewa Falls - the midpoint of the Trans Canada Hwy where you can explore the falls and even cast a line if you want.

Only a few more minutes north stop at the Batchewana Park visitor center and dip your toes in Lake Superior on a beautiful sand beach.

Another 5 minutes and you will be at the Voyageur cookhouse offering ice cream, great food and the World's Best Apple Fritters

Once you are there you are only 10 more minutes to Agawa Indian Crafts at Pancake Bay. This is an experience and destination all on its own with very unique crafts, artwork and souvenirs  that are sure to please everyone.

If in town or north aren't what you're looking for then head out on Hwy 17E  to Echo Bay and visit the giant Loonie and nature boardwalk. This larger than life tribute to our Canadian $1 coin was designed by area resident Robert Carmichael. While you are there, take a few minutes and enjoy local natural beauty on the boardwalk.

Heading East again will bring you to St Joseph Island, home of  Richards Landing and Hilton Beach. Both of these small scenic waterfront towns offer all that a visitor would need to enjoy a great day.

A little further across the island will bring to the remains of
Fort St Joseph a great learning site that was pivotal in the war of 1812.

Texas BBQ Roadside eatery that is sure to satisfy the BBQ urges we all have.
